Saturday at the Jeremiah Schmuck Invitational host Warden and Kittitas, the team which stacked a big win last week at Pomeroy, locked up in a team battle. Warden prevailed with a 235.5 vs. 203 for the K club.
Colfax rolled up 41 points for a seventh place finish.
Top finishers for the Bulldogs came in the heavyweight classes with fourth-place finishes by Daython Maltone at 215 and Ben Cochran in the heavyweight class.
Both lost in their opening matches, battled back through consolation and then ran into the same first-round foes in the medal round.
Maltone was pinned by Gerino Luna of Warden in his first match, took two wins in consolations and ran into Luna in the last round. They went into overtime, but Luna prevailed by two points.
Cochran followed the same path against Robert Persien of Lake Roosevelt. He picked up a bye in the first consolations round, then took a pin over Sergio Fuentes of Kittitas to get into the medal round where he ran into Persien again.
Justin King, who was wrestling in exhibition, sustained a knee injury in his last match and had to be taken to Moses Lake for treatment.
Last Thursday the Bulldogs traveled to Reardan for a round robin league match. Host Reardan and Pomeroy had the most wrestlers in the action which also included White Swan and Tri-Cities Prep.
Colfax wrestlers finished at 7-9 for the night.
Dillon Aeschliman booked two wins on the Reardan trip.
Colfax wrestlers will depart Friday for the two-day tournament at Orofino.
