Reardan pulls off big win over Colfax in 2nd half

Tied 23-23 after the first half at Reardan Saturday night, the host Indians put together a strong second half to post a 53-46 win over Colfax in a Bi-County round. The loss left Colfax at 3-3 in the league for the first round.

The Bi-County swings into a second round with NWC leading the pack and Colfax in a scramble in the middle ranks.

Northwest Christian Saturday finished the round at 5-0 with a 57-42 win over Lind/Ritzville. The loss left the Broncos, who defeated Colfax in the first round, at 3-2

Reardan’s win over Colfax Saturday was topped by Trevor Peone’s game high 21 points. Peone hit a trio of three-point shots and dropped six-for six at the toss line in the last quarter when the Bulldogs were attempting to get ahold of the ball.

Colfax faded in the third quarter with just seven points. Alex Teade hit six of the seven beans, one off a three-pointer.

Reardan declined to give ground in the last quarter with Peone getting 11 of his 21 points.

JJ Robinson again led Colfax, this time with 14, and Teade finished with 13. Teade hit three shots to lead a charge for Colfax in the second quarter when Colfax caught Reardan to tie it up at 23-23.

Colfax played at Reardan Saturday after rolling over Odessa 68-26 in a non-leaguer on the Tigers’ court.

Coach Reece Jenkin activated the bench against the Tigers and freshman Brandon Gfeller emerged as top scorer with 20. He also hit three three-pointers.

Justin Berarducci, a sophomore, was number-two with 16, all of them from the floor.

Colfax led 27-15 at the half and sealed it with a 21-point run in the third quarter with Gfeller and Berarducci each hitting eight points.

Nick Campbell led the Tigers with nine points.

Because Wilbur/Creston will bring in just varsity teams for the Friday night games at Colfax, the hoop schedule has been advanced. The girls varsity game will start at 4:30 p.m. and the boys varsity game will start at 6 p.m.

The Wildcat boys moved their record to 10-2 Saturday with a two-point win over league foe Almira-Coulee-Hartline.

Saturday, the Bulldogs are booked to play on the road against Valley Christian, a team they hammered in the first league round.
