Bulldog grapplers host Liberty tonight
A tough team of Liberty Lancers will compete with Colfax grapplers tonight in the last home mat show of the season. Time slated for the first match is 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs will travel to the Clearwater Classic at Lewiston Friday and then face two more league rounds before entering the qualifications for the state mat classic.
Last weekend Colfax was among 19 teams entered in the big tournament at Orofino. The tourney format broke out the field into groups Friday and the top qualifiers advanced to the finals Saturday. Prairie topped the meet with 133, four points ahead of the Lewiston JVs. Colfax finished with 39.5.

Eagle grapplers face long trip
After a tough outing at a multi-meet Tuesday night at Wilbur, the SJE grapplers face their longest road trip this year when they head for a SE meet at White Swan south of Yakima.
The Eagles will return to host a multi meet Jan. 30 with four teams on the guest list to date.

Baerlocher receives state coaching honor
Colfax High School Coach Corey Baerlocher has been named 2009 coach of the year for girls basketball in Washington by the National Federation of State High School Associations. The award was announced at Friday’s home basketball game.
Baerlocher’s Colfax team won their first championship trophy in the state 2B show at Spokane last year after completing a 28-2 record. They have won five state titles in the last six years with the other four posted in the A division playoffs at Yakima.
Willson 3rd at WSU
Colfax sophomore Morgan Willson clocked a personal best with a 5:19.97 Saturday against college competition in the eighth annual WSU Open Indoor meet which brought in college runners from around the area. Willson was one of three runners who hit the finish in the WSU practice dome and placed third in the event which was listed as a mile in the results. She was one of three high school entrants among a field of collegiate competitors who entered the open meet. WSU’s Chelsea VanDeBrake won the race at 5:18.66.
