Colfax girls notched another win over Reardan Friday night to win the top Bi-County playoff slot and then dropped Liberty 61-41 in the first round of district action Monday at Mt. Spokane High. The Bulldogs will now face Northwest Christian in the district semi-final Friday.

Five teams from the Bi-County and three for the Panorama locked up for the first round Monday.
The Panorama contenders—St. George’s, Republic and Mary Walker, were all defeated in the first round. Colfax was paired against Liberty, number-five entrant from the Bi-County.
“Liberty put up a closer game than what the score shows,” Colfax Coach Corey Baerlocher said. The Lancers came out aggressive and played Colfax even in the first quarter before they began to give up ground.
Baerlocher noted the Bulldogs gradually began to build up a lead in their normal “wear them down” mode. The club pegged a big boost from the bench with Hannah Harazin knocking down all six of her points after she got the call in the third quarer.
Amelie Bruya and Shaina Simonson put up the fence in front of Reardan's Kelsey Moos in the girls title game.
Raven Elkins snagged eight boards during the limited time she subbed. Kayleigh Maltone and Kayla Johnson also each had eight boards against the Lancers. That accounts for 24 of the 35 Colfax rebounds.
Friday night in the Bi-County title game at Reardan the Bulldogs stacked up an early lead over the Reardan girls and fought off a rally by the Indians in the third quarter.
Reardan trailed by just five points, 34-39, going into the last quarter. Baerlocher noted the Reardan run came against the Bulldogs’ second unit, and the rested Colfax starters reclaimed the point spread in the final quarter.
Reardan’s Kelsey Moos booked 22 against Colfax, much of it off a move she made right down the middle of the paint behind a Reardan cutter.
“We just have to pay more attention to who has the ball,” Baerlocher said.
Semi-final winners Friday will be sidelined until the district seven title rounds next Thursday. Semi losers will go into the consolation bracket.
