After first rounds on home courts Wednesday and Thursday, teams in the SE 2B division will make a full-scale stop in the Colfax game Saturday. Four elimination games, matching of losers of the first rounds, will be on the docket at Colfax starting with the girls game at 1:30.
Action will move to Whitman College Monday for first-round winners games and continue there next week for the last three dates to qualify three teams for the big 2B show in the Spokane Arena March 3-6.
Garfield/Palouse girls Monday booked the first win in the long 2B playoff when they bumped Walla Walla Valley Academy 36-28 in a play-in game. The Vikings, number-four finisher in the SE North, stuck WWVA 18-6 in the first quarter. Lacey Hendrickson hit 17.
The win put the Vikings up against the SE’s top contender, Liberty Christian in the first full round of action Wednesday night. The Patriots booked a 9-1 in the SE south with a 9-3 overall in 2B matchups.
Other matchups in the Wednesday round put Dayton at Asotin, Pomeroy at DeSales, and Waitsburg/Prescott at Tekoa.
Winners in the Wednesday round match up Monday at Whitman.
Tekoa/Oakesdale Friday rapped Pomeroy 50-37 in their last league game with a strong start and finish. Alex Overton put down 28 and Desiree Chappell 13. The ‘hawks started the playoff action with a 7-4 overall 2B mark in the SE.
