John Owen Feistner
John Owen Feistner, 45, Colfax died Feb. 16, 2010 at his home. He will be laid to rest in a private rite at the Colfax Cemeter, and a memorial gathering will take place later in the spring.
Born Feb. 29, 1964, in Seattle, he moved to Spokane with his parents, Marion Richard (Dick) and Audrey Price Feistner. While attending high school in Pullman John met Brenda Colyar, a classmate, and they have been a couple for the last 28 years. He graduated from Pullman High School in 1982 and he worked in the WSU horticulture department while attending school.
They made Colfax their home for many years, and he worked in the housekeeping department at The Whitman Health & Rehab Center. He enjoyed raising plants and caring for cats, fishing, and collecting a Christmas village.
Surviving in addition to his long-time companion, Brenda, at the home in Colfax, is his mother, Audrey Crouch, Pullman

Vernald Carl Morasch
A celebration of life for Vernald Carl Morasch, 75, was Jan. 30, and burial was Feb. 1 at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Ore. Mr. Morasch died Jan. 25, 2010.
Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Endicott to Carl and Emma Morasch of Endicott, he graduated from Endicott High School and entered the US Army in 1957.
Vern worked in farming, mechanical work and served as a volunteer fire fighter prior to his employment at Trimet in Portland, Ore., where he began as a bus driver and worked his way up to the payroll department before retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; his daughters, Carla Morasch Sells, Robin Morasch Dady, step-daughter, Wendy Hagg, a son, Spencer Nunn, siblings Patricia Hall, Arlene Dye, Nancy Winn, Donald Morasch and Linda Maughan.
James Vaughn Getz
Funeral services for James V. (Jim) Getz, 89, long-time resident of Potlatch, will be today, Thursday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene at Princeton, Idaho. Burial will follow at the IOOF Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia with Potlatch VFW Post and a U.S. Army honor guard conducting military honors.
Mr. Vaughn died Feb. 16, 2010, at his Potlatch home.
Born Dec. 15, 1920, at Clearfield, Iowa, to Harry W. and Clara Strange Getz, he moved with his family to the Spring Valley area east of Rosalia and attended the Spring Valley Country School for one year. He later attended the Oakesdale Schools and in 1929 came to Palouse where he graduated from Palouse High School with the class of 1939.
He joined the U.S. Army Feb. 9, 1943, and served in the European Theater during WWII as a heavy machine gunner in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Getz received the Purple Heart after being wounding in action March 1, 1945, in Germany. He received his discharge Dec. 5, 1945.
Mr. Getz and Eunice Poston were married Nov. 24, 1943, at Lewiston.
After the war, they lived in Palouse until 1950 when they moved to Potlatch where he was employed at Potlatch Forest. He retired from the Potlatch mill in January of 1983 and later worked one year at the Lewiston mill.
Eunice Getz died in 1988, and he married JoAnn Curtis Sept. 2, 1992, at Coeur d’Alene, and they made their home at Potlatch.
Mr. Getz enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Potlatch VFW and the DAV in Spokane, and he attended the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Jo Ann Getz, Pullman; one son, James R. Getz, Lewiston; five daughters, Jacqueline (Michael) Beaudry, Spokane; Janette (Greg) Doherty, Bayview, Idaho; Janean (Jim) Deatherage, Idaho Falls; Paula (Larry) Babb, Potlatch; Jamie (Rod) Stewart, Rupert, Idaho; two step-sons, Christopher and Thomas Curtis, both of Spanaway; five step-daughters, Debbie Hart, Lewiston; Mary C. Kingery, Missoula, Mont .; Joan Belo, Vancouver; Stephanie Aaron, Spokane; Jo Ann Curtis, Everett; one sister, Betty J. Tribbett, Cave Bay, Idaho; 16 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.
Memorials may be given to the Scenic 6 Park at Potlatch.
Pauline Haggerty
A funeral service for Pauline (Polly) Haggerty, 86, was Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at East Lawn Mortuary in Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Haggerty died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 following a brief illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1923, at Alberta, Canada, to Robert and Myrtle Elder, she came to Garfield as an infant when they relocated to her father’s hometown. She was a graduate of Garfield Public Schools.
Polly married Richard Tempero and they raised their family in Garfield, Moscow and then Sacramento. They were later divorced.
Polly later married Gordon Haggerty, and they lived in Roseville, Calif.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Haggerty; her daughters, Sharron, Dianne and Elaine; her son, Richard; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Thelma (Sandy) Elkins; John Elder of Pullman and Franny Weible of Richland.

Sister Marleen Hull, SP
Sister Marleen Hull (Sister Anthony), 79, died Thursday, Feb.18, 2010, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
The vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, in the Chapel at Mount St. Joseph, 12 West Ninth Avenue, Spokane, and funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the same location.
Cremation preceded the services with interment at Mount Olive Cemetery, Great Falls, Mont.
Born Theresa Marleen Hull Sept. 22, 1930, to Anselm Joseph Hull and Mary Ann Friel Hull in Havre, Mont., she was raised on the family farm in Chester, Mont.
She was the second in her family to join the Sisters of Providence, following her older sister, Catherine.
She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Wallace, Idaho, in 1948 and entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of Providence in Seattle, in January 1949.
She professed her first vows in July 1950 and her final vows in 1953. She received a two-year teaching certificate and later a bachelors degree from College of Great Falls and a nursing degree from Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane in 1960. She also earned a masters degree in hospital administration at St. Louis University, Mo., in 1973 and completed the CREDO Program at Gonzaga University in Spokane in 1987.
Sr. Marleen’s teaching ministry assignments included: Mary Immaculate School, DeSmet, Idaho (1950-51); St. Thomas Orphans Home, Great Falls, Montana (1951-53); St. Gerard’s School, Great Falls, Montana (1953-54); Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, Wallace, (1954-55); St. Raphael’s School, Glasgow, Mont. (1955-57).
She then entered the health care field and served at Providence Hospital, Wallace, Idaho, St. Ignatius Hospital in Colfax, Columbus Hospital in Great Falls, Mont., and St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Ore.
She served as Provincial Councilor in Spokane, and as acting administrator of St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Mont, St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla where she was appointed administrator in 1883.
She then served as assistant superior of Mount St. Joseph in Spokane and volunteered at St. Aloysius Parish in Spokane. Her hobbies included crocheting and embroidery.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and her community of Sisters of Providence. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Sisters of Providence Retirement Fund, 1801 Lind Avenue SW, #9016, Renton, 98057-9016.
William D. Humphrey
William D. (Bill) Humphrey, 81, died in Sun Lakes, Ariz., Feb. 8, 2010. Graveside services will be at a later date in Garfield.
Born in Seattle, Dec. 29, 1928, he was raised in Garfield, served in the Air Force and graduated from Washington State College. He found his passion in the early 1960s while working at a plastic extrusion plant in Seattle. In 1973 he founded A & B Plastics in Selah and moved the company in 1985 to Yakima where he continued to work until his retirement in 1991.
After retirement he and his wife, Beth, split their time between Yakima, and Sun Lakes, before moving to Sun Lakes full-time in 2007. Bill enjoyed traveling in the U.S., golfing, sharing time with his family and friends and he especially enjoyed hosting barbecues at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beth, Sun Lakes; son Bruce Humphrey, The Dalles, Ore .; daughter, Brenda (Steve) Roy of Castle Rock, Colo .; brother, Bob Humphrey, Sun Lakes, and sister, Helen Messinger, Moscow, and three grandsons.
