Serving Whitman County since 1877
Street banners painted by 11 artists have been entered in the third annual Colfax H’Art of the Palouse competition.
The Colfax Arts Council has distributed ballots and cans at various locations around Colfax.
Residents are asked to vote on their favorite banner design in the youth and adult classifications.
The balloting will end March 4 with a reception for the artists at the social room of First Baptist Church.
A jar to collect donations for a prize fund has been located at city hall.
For the first two years, the banner event has concluded at Whitman Library, but the event had to be moved this year because the library is now undergoing remodeling.
The Arts Council has decided this year to return banners to the downtown area of Colfax.
Last year they were mounted on the higher light standards at each end of town, but some residents complained they were too high to appreciate.
