Relay for Life plans March 25 kick-off
Whitman County Relay for Life has scheduled a kickoff event for March 25 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Colfax. The relay has been scheduled for July 9-10 at the Colfax High School track.
Eric-E to perform at Dahmen Barn
Tenor and guitarist Eric-E will perform a solo concert at the Dahmen Barn Hay Loft Hall Saturday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m.
He has been a full-time performer since 1985. Admission will be $7 at the door.
From 1985 to 1991 he traveled throughout Europe and Japan to perform in colleges, high schools, clubs, coffee-houses and festivals. He performed with the vocal jazz group, Soundsation, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
He now resides with his wife Sylvia and three young sons in Moscow.
Pastels exhibit to open at Dahmen Barn
“Perfecting Pastels” will be the March art exhibit at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown with an opening reception Saturday, March 6, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The display includes the work of 18 students of artisan Judy Fairley at Walla Walla Community College in Clarkston. The instructor and students will be at the reception.
The exhibit runs through March 28 during regular open hours of the barn, Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Farley is also an exhibiting member of “Bridging the Arts,” a local art organization.
St. Paddy’s at Palouse
Palouse Arts Council will sponsor their seventh annual St. Paddy’s in Palouse on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, at the Palouse Grange Hall building on E. Bluff Street in Palouse.
Serving of a traditional Irish dinner will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with music beginning at 7 p.m. Music will be by the Potatohead band with dancers performing traditional Irish dances.
The menus will include Irish or vegetarian stew, Irish soda bread, cocannon and dessert. A no-host bar for beer and wine will be available.
Admission will be $16 for adults and $7 for youngsters between 6 and 12. Younger children will be admitted free.

PCT will present Shakespeare Abridged
“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged!” will run for two weekends at the Pullman Civic Theatre on Nye Street in Pullman.
The two-act comedy is a celebration of all 37 plays by the classic playwright.
Performances will be March 26, 27, April 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 p.m., and March 28 at 2 p.m. at Nye Street Theatre in Pullman.
Tickets are $12 advance, $15 at the door for evening performances and $10 advance, $15 at the door for the matinee.

Colfax Troop 595
Thirteen scouts and five adult leaders camped over the weekend at the Palouse Falls camp area. The scouts completed a three-hour service project to clear and burn leaves and other debris from fall and winter. They also practiced using a small camping stove in preparation for a backpack expedition later in the year.
Taste ‘n Tear 4H
Taste ‘n’ Tear members met Feb. 20 to sew their pants patterns. Carol Salusso was there to help fit the pants.
For their next meeting they will start an embroidery project so participants should bring an embroidery hoop. A six-inch hoop would be preferred. Participants should also bring their basted pants pattern.
Patchin’ People
Patchin’ People Quilt Group of Pullman invites members and anyone interested in the quilting arts to come to their monthly meeting and program Monday, March 8, 1 to 3 p.m.
Local quilt artist Celia Boland will present a program on “Playing with Color.” Location is Concordia Lutheran Church fellowship area, 1015 NE Orchard Drive, Pullman.

“Slag, The Anti-Art Glass”, will be featured at the University of Idaho’s Prichard Art Gallery in downtown Moscow, Feb. 24 to April 10.
MUSIC
The WSU School of Music will host a choral concert at tonight Thursday, March 4, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Hall Theatre featuring performances of the WSU Madrigal/Chamber Singers, University Singers and Concert Choir.
The concert is free and open to the public.

More than $270 worth of non-perishable food was donated to Community Action Center through the Colfax library. The library was pleased to waive $173.22 in fines as a part of this program.
Whitman County Library’s Occupational Resource Connection (WORC) program has scheduled another round of free individual assistance with cover letters, resumes, and on-line job applications and additional job searches on computers around the county for the second week of March.
WORC assistance will be at Garfield: Monday, March 8, from 11:30-1:30 p.m.
Uniontown: March 9, from 12-2 p.m.
Albion: Tuesday, March 9, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Tekoa: Wednesday, March 10, from 11:30-1:30 p.m.
Palouse: Friday, March 12, from 10 to noon
St. John: Friday, March 12, from 4 to 6 p.m.

All branches of WCL will be closed on March 25 and 26 for a system upgrade. Materials that would normally be due those days will be due the next day the library is open.
The library has recently added a new collection of guidebooks for Hawaii.
Teen Tech Week 2010 will be March 7-13. Teen Tech Week is a national initiative aimed at teens, librarians, educators, parents, and other concerned adults meant to encourage teens to take advantage of the libraries’ resources.
