Winona gun theft warrant issued

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Cody A. Richardson, 18, Spokane Valley, for alleged involvement in the theft of guns from an unoccupied residence outside of Winona last November. Sheriff Brett J. Myers said in a report approximately 15 firearms were taken from a bedroom in the residence, and since that time 10 of the missing guns have been located and returned to the owner.

Richardson, a former employee at the ranch, has formally been charged with two counts of theft of a firearm. The counts include a 8 mm Mauser rifle, and a Savage model 22.

Sheriff Myers said evidence and other information have led investigators to believe Richardson is involved. A report filed with the charges said some of the guns were located in a camper parked at the home of a relative in Lewistion. Richardson allegedly previously lived in the camper.
