The annual Broeckel sausage making weekend in the basement of the Karen Broeckel home had an international contingent this year. Participating in the event were Oscar Broeckel, Brian and Angela Broeckel and Graham, Dusty; Cliff and Jeanette Nolan, Greg and Gwen Nolan, Jason, Andrew and Kerry King, Colfax; Tom and Doreen Riedner, Genesee; Denise Kendall, Tacoma; Pam and Ken Beasley, Zach and Austin, Waitsburg and their exchange student Edmond Lai, Hong Kong and Singapore; Patty Wieber and Brett and Jamie and Robert Goodman, Spokane; Mattie Forrest, Australia; and John Murray and Judy Warton, Bellingham.

Katy Tellessen and Justin Heaton officially announced their engagement to a group of family and friends at the Dusty Country Store Sunday morning. They became engaged Feb. 22 and plan to marry Aug. 21.

Christina Cain and her son, Mason, from Mays Landing, New Jersey, are visiting their mother/grandmother, Suzy and Dick McNeilly for the next 10 days.

Jon and Li Ochs just returned from Seattle after spending the weekend with Li’s parents, Don and Ginger Reiman who are visiting from Maine. They were joined by Sara Ochs and her boyfriend Nathan Yeager and Nadja Ochs Wilson. The Reimans returned to Dusty with the Ochs and will visit here for three weeks.

Vicki Broeckel and Berniece Krom attended a concert at the Methodist Church in Colfax Saturday. Performing ragtime music on the piano was Jack Thompson and on the trumpet, Jerry Lewis, Sacramento. Matthew Scholz, UI music student from Colfax, also performed.

Ed and Joan Broeckel were in Seattle over the weekend to help their daughter Jennifer with a painting project.

David and Phyllis Stueckle joined Norm and Barb Aune at Lake Chelan for three days last week to commemorate the late Betty Aune’s 100th anniversary birth date March 17. They had lunch with Norm and Carol Stueckle in Wenatchee on their way home.
