Hospital highlights - Tell your doctor ‘Thanks’

When we are ill, there is no more important person than our doctor. When we are well, it is our doctor who helps us stay that way. In Whitman County, we are blessed with dedicated, caring, competent physicians. I know their top priority is you, their patient.

Tuesday was National Doctors’ Day. The day was created to show appreciation to doctors. Doctors’ Day observances date back to March 30, 1933. It was started by Eudora Brown Almond of Winder, Ga. The day marks the anniversary of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery. In 1990, the congress and the senate approved legislation and President George Bush signed a resolution establishing March 30th as National Doctors’ Day.

At the hospital, we gave our doctors gift certificates to restaurants so they could take a break from their busy schedule and enjoy a nice relaxing meal. We also sent treats to their offices.

I suggest you send your doctor a card or simply tell him or her that you appreciate all they do for you and your family at your next appointment.
