Open house, benefit events slated next week at Palouse

Palouse Open House, an open house of Palouse businesses, will be April 10. Later in the day, a separate fund-raising event with a silent auction, bingo, and baked potato bar will be at the Palouse Grange.

Businesses will open at 10 a.m. The silent auction opens at 5 p.m. and most of the items are from the Needful Things thrift store in Palouse. Antique items like cookbooks and ceramics will be offered in baskets for the auction.

Other items in the silent auction, including glass-blown jewelry, were created by Palouse artists.

Proceeds from the auction will go to support funding for Palouse’s Community Center building project.

“All this money goes to the community center,” said Doreen Hanson, a volunteer coordinator with Needful Things.

The potato bar, a chance to stuff a baked potato with a variety of sides, opens at 5 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Bingo, hosted by the Lions Club, begins at 7 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.

Hanson said they’ve had the auction for the past three years; and it just happened to fall on the same day as the Palouse Open House.
