Vows in Hawaii unite Shayla Gaytan, Daniel

Jeremy Daniel and Shayla Gaytan, both from Spokane, exchanged wedding vows Oct. 21, 2009, in an afternoon ceremony at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui, Hawaii. The ceremony was officiated by Ku’u Laki Ka’ahumanu.

The bride is the daughter of Tammy Gaytan, Lubbock, Texas, and the groom is the son of Roger and Loretta Daniel of LaCrosse.

The bride wore an ivory strapless chiffon gown with a split surplice beaded empire waist. She added an ivory feathered rose hairpiece, an ivory lei, and carried a round bouquet of ivory roses, green orchids and white plumeria.

Matron of honor was Leah Roberg of Grangeville, Idaho, a friend of the bride. Her other attendant was Tara Daniel of Clarkston, sister-in-law of the groom. They wore matching coral dresses and carried bouquets of pink roses and coral dendrobium orchids.

Caleb Daniel and Sarah Broemmeling, nephew and niece of the groom from Clarkston, preceded the bride down the aisle carrying a “Here Comes the Bride” sign.

Flower girl Carly Broemmeling of Clarkston, niece of the groom, wore a coral sundress and carried a white basket filled with yellow and pink plumeria.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by the groom’s father where the couple exchanged their vows under a bamboo Hawaiian arch with pink and coral chiffon, pink and yellow plumeria and orchids.

Best man was Joshua Daniel of Clarkston, brother of the groom, and Trevor Fox of Coeur d’Alene, friend of the groom. Each wore a Hawaiian brown kukui nut lei.

A ukulele player provided music before the wedding and sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” while the wedding party and bride entered. He also sang “What a Wonderful World.”

“The Art of Marriage” was read by Jessica Broemmeling of Clarkston, sister of the groom. She was also the wedding coordinator.

A reception followed at a luau on the grounds of the Royal Lahaina Resort.

After honeymooning in Maui and Kauai, the couple are at home in Spokane where he is an officer with the Spokane City Police Department and she is a sonographer at the Women’s Health Connection.
