Colfax baseball players took two big wins at Odessa Tuesday to advance their season mark to 5-0. The wins at Odessa followed a pair of wins last Friday at McDonald Park in the Bulldogs’ spring tournament.
Colfax today is slated to host Riverside, and Saturday they will host NE foe Reardan in a double bill.
Colfax Friday started the tourney with a 17-4 win over Freeman in five innings. The Bulldogs rolled up 18 hits in taking the win over the Scots.
Senior veteran Brandon Hoadley pitched a seven hitter. He struck out two but allowed just three walks.
Colfax junior Tyler McNannay shut down the Bellevue Christian bats on the way to a win at Colfax Friday. McNannay put the lid on while the Bulldog bats dug out a comeback win.Justin Altmeyer and Zach Allen pitched for Freeman.
Hoadley hit 4-4 with a double, and Joe Johnson logged a 3-3. Tanner Gay singled and doubled; Jamie Bledsoe tagged three singles and Sam Mellor two singles for the Colfax attack.
Freeman committed four errors.
In the second game Friday against Bellevue Christian, Colfax came back from a 1-8 hole to take the lead in the fifth inning and finish with a 13-8 win.
The Vikings booked the early lead off Colfax junior Alex Teade who was trying to pitch with a hamstring pull. Coach Mike Parrish then put the tap on Tyler McNannay who shut down the Viking bats for the duration.
“He absolutely shut off their offense. It was really a stellar performance,” Coach Parrish said. McNannay served up a control game of pitching and changed up speeds to keep the Viking batters off balance.
Colfax batters came back to stack 11 hits. They scored six in the third inning, and went past the Vikings with two in the fifth to take a 9-8 lead. Four more runs in the seventh capped the 13-8 win.

Tuesday at Odessa, the Bulldogs dropped the Tigers 12-1 in the first game and 30-1 in the second game. The Tigers were unable to shut down the Bulldog bats.
Hoadley started and booked the win. Dustin Huber returned from the sick list to pitch the last inning. Junior Kellen Morgan was catcher.
JJ Robinson led the hitting with a 3-4 game including a double and homer. Johnson and Will Hatley tripled; Gay and McNannay doubled.
In the second game, Teade went to the mound for Colfax and threw a two hitter at the Tigers. He fanned nine and walked just one.
Colfax meanwhile totaled 24 hits on the way to the 30-1 win which was shut down after five innings that consumed over two hours.
Odessa used four pitchers in an effort to shut down the Colfax bats.
The hit barrage includes three homers with Hoadley stacking three RBIs with his. Johnson and Gay had the other blasts.
