St. John/Endicott golfers swung into a new season last week, competing at matches in Asotin and Tri-Cities.
St. John/Endicott girls began their defense of last year’s district title with a team win last Thursday, March 25, over nine holes at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Asotin. The Eagles were joined on the LC Valley links by Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia, Asotin, Pomeroy and Orofino.
Michal Schuster shot 49 on the 9-hole course to take the medal for the girls. The Lady Eagles carded a team score of 169 to top the four-team field. Erin Schuster shot 55 and Erin Elkins added a 65.
The SJE boys combined for a 284 team score for fourth place. Travis Nieman shot a 52 to lead the Eagles, followed by Steven Bowen at 55, Dakota White 56, William Knott 58, John Quinton 58, and Hunter Fairbanks 71.
Asotin’s 222 points topped team scoring, with Panther Nick Gosse taking the boys’ medal with a 38.
Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia boys finished third with a 259 team score. Individual results for the Nighthawks were not available.
St. John/Endicott opened the regular season March 24 with a nine hole match against Dayton, DeSales and Tri-Cities Prep on the Canyon Lakes links at Kennewick.
Erin Schuster shot 54 to lead the SJE girls, followed by Michal Schuster’s 55 and Erin Elkins’ 72.
Freshman John Quinton carded a 54 to lead the boys. William Knott followed with a 62 and Hunter Fairbanks, Dakota White and Blake Bailey, each shot 65s. Evan Jones rounded out the Eagle squad with a 68.
Tommy Wyndish of TCP earned the boys medal and Kelly Martin of DeSales took top honors for the girls.
