Touchet, DeSales rough up locals

Touchet and DeSales last week took double wins over Whitman County foes in SE matchups before the spring break.

COLTON Friday sustained two losses at Touchet in their 1B openers. The Indians took the first game 9-1 with four runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth.

The two clubs locked up 0-0 until Touchet broke loose in the bottom of the fifth.

Colton pitchers walked 12 Touchet players. Chase Druffel had two hits in the first game.

In the second game the Wildcats posted a 7-0 lead after four innings, but Touchet charged for five runs in the bottom of the fourth and seven more in the bottom of the fifth. It ended with a 12-8 Touchet win.

The Wildcats rolled up 10 hits, with Pat Lutskas hitting a pair of doubles and Chase Druffel rapping a double and a single. Andrew Tietjen also had two hits, and Bernie Druffel and Bricyn Abdul added doubles.

Josh Straughan started the second game and Holdan Druffel relieved him in the fourth inning.

GARFIELD/PALOUSE sustained two defeats at DeSales Thursday. The Irish took the opener on a 12-0 shutout with the Vikings getting just one hit. Taylor Christopher started and Nick Cocking finished. Christopher had the lone GP hit.

DeSales had 10 hits.

The Irish took the second game 7-4. DeSales stacked a 7-1 lead, and the Viking charged for three runs in the sixth with Blake Slocum and Reilly Hodges getting the hits.

Slocum and Wilson Allen pitched for Garfield/Palouse.

Now 2-2, the Vikings are booked to play at Liberty Christian Saturday.

ST. JOHN/ENDICOTT scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to bail out a 6-5 win over LWK Friday at Endicott. The Eagles were down by two runs going into the bottom of the sixth when they scored the go-ahead runs off two singles, a walk and a passed ball.

Kyle Raynor and Dallas Schluneger had the hits in the rally.

Bryce Bennett started for SJE, fanned five and allowed two hits. Cole McCanna finished.

Eighth grader Darcy Stamper pitched for the Tigercats.

SJE’s trip to Dayton Tuesday was called off because a pole had blown down across the Bulldogs’ field. The game will be made up when Dayton’s trip to Endicott will be turned into a twinbill.
