Orders for Oakesdale birthday community calendars are being taken by Brenda McFarling at the school until April 15. Changes should also be submitted.
Bridge Club was hosted by Patty Johnson at the Oakesdale museum last week. Winning high prize was Donna Fisher, second June Crow, traveling Marvel Ebert and bingo Gretchen Peringer. Next session will be April 15.
Oakesdale School will conduct a screening for all children birth up through five years next Friday, April 23. The free screening checks hearing, vision, speech and language, motor and cognitive development, Contact Brenda McFarling at the school to make an appointment.
First through fifth graders at Oakesdale grade school are trying to collect $50 in coins for the Oakesdale Library penny drive. Oakesdale librarian Michele Wright has vowed to provide a pizza party for the students if they reach their goal.
Grade school teacher Connie Crow said, “having Michele come and do an outreach program really helps get the kids involved in this great cause and we teachers can use the coins prior to donation as a teaching tool to help students learn to count money!” Coins can be donated at the school, Crossett’s Grocery or the Library.
Oakesdale Library will be open extra hours beginning April 5 through June 12 for people who need computer time to work on job resumes.
Extended hours will be Mondays from noon to 6 p.m. and Wednesday’s from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. These extra hours are made possible thanks to grant funding from the WORC program.
