Serving Whitman County since 1877

SJ, Colton library news

Ten residents of the St. John area have already taken advantage of a variety of instruction through the Whitman County Library’s WORC programs. The grant funding will provide additional Friday hours at the St. John Library. Let librarian Clancy Pool know of computer time needs for job searching. New Friday hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., will continue through June 11. WORC programs are made possible through a grant from the Office of the Secretary of State, Washington State Library as a part of the Renew Washington Project which is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Pool said she is thrilled with the response to the library’s fourth annual Pennies for Programs drive. A coffee can is already overflowing with coins and some folding money. A little spotted pig stands ready on the librarian’s desk to collect donations. The program runs through April 19.

Colors will be the Storytime theme at the library for April and May. Crafts and stories will revolve around a different color each week. Earth Day will be the focus of the Third Thursday program April 15 at 3:15 p.m.
