Willson sets two CHS marks

Colfax distance runner Morgan Willson, pulled along by some of the top big school runners in the state, set two Colfax school distance marks Saturday in the Pasco Invitational. Willson clocked a 5:10 in the 1600 meter run and an 11:20.85 in the 3200. Both marks had been on the books for 20 years and were set by Robyn Slate with a 5:12 in the 1600 and 11:29 in the 3200.

The Colfax 4 X 100 team booked a best time of 52:00.5 in the Pasco event behind a 49.25 booked by Jesuit. Amelie Bruya, EB Hatley, Hannah Harazin and Kayla Johnson run legs on the relay.

Tuesday, both Colfax teams stacked points for team wins in a five-team NE district meet on the Schmuck Park track.

Colfax girls cranked out 174 points, more than double the total booked by number-two Liberty.

The Bulldog boys for their win totaled 95, just five ahead of Liberty.

Kayla Johnson led a 1-2-3 finish for Colfax in the 100 and 300 hurdles with Taylor Lange and Hannah Knaack tracking her in the 100 and Harazin and Lange tracking in the 300.

Other Colfax wins for the girls were booked by Willson in the distance runs, the 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 relay teams, Rebecca Hardie in the 800, Hatley in the 200, Kim Heiner in the pole vault and Johnson in the triple jump.

Wins for the boys were booked by Brandon Gfeller in the 110 hurdles, Cody Wuestney in the 1600, the 4 X 100 relay team, Jay Hart in the 400, and Tuffy Hickman in the shotput.
