Locals collect CDA Ras points

Members of the GP-Colton and TOR track teams ventured north to Coeur d’Alene Saturday and took advantage of big school competition on a blustery day at the Rasmussen Invitational meet. The Viking-Cat boys finished in 18th place in among 21 schools with entrants from schools in all sizes.,

TOR’s Desiree Chappell had the top local finish. a fifth in the shotput at 34-9. Shae Carson of Coeur d’Alene booked a 37-10 for the win. Chappell also placed eighth in the discus at 94-9 behind the Carson’s big win at 136-8.

GP Coach Scott Kent credits his Viking tracksters with working hard against a very high level of competition.

Chad Redman placed sixth in the 300 hurdles with a personal best of 42.19, and Sam Robertson of Colton placed sixth in the 400 with a 54.24. Winning times in those races were a 38.54 by AJ Boully of Borah in the 300 and a 52.88 by Mt. Spokane’s Jack Cerenza in the 400.

Other PRs were booked by Anthony Floyd in the 100, 12.9, and triple jump, 35-4.25, Robertson and Jeff Kent in the 200, 23.49 and 23.86, Derrick Bosch in the 800 2:28.44. and Emma Akin in the 100, 13.59.

Other finalists for the Nighthawk girls were Courtenay Perry 2:41.7 and Mattie Eberle 2:49.0 in the 800, and Perry 5:55.46 in the 1600. Relay times were 1:01.43 for the 4 X 100 with Bryanna Solana, Erin Brown, Chappell and Maddy St. John, 2:10.34 in the 4 X 200 with Tayler Nelson, Alex Overton, Brown and St. John, and 4:54.85 in the 4 X 400 with Eberle, Overton, Perry and Jessie Wilson.
