Rosalia
The Early Learning Center of Rosalia learned this week that they placed fourth in the nation for Community Service in the contest sponsored by Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), according to Jessica Kile, director. Twelve children took part in the contest.
The children created holiday decorations that were used as centerpieces for several senior citizen luncheons in Rosalia and Spokane. Patriotic projects also included learning about presidents for President’s Day and the United States Flag. The contest was open to children from all 50 states with more than 7,000 entries. The children learned about US History as part of the Junior American Club sponsored by the DAR. The local Esther Reed DAR chapter sponsored the center’s project with Julie Pittmann of Rosalia as tegent. The DAR Chapter has many Rosalia area members. The award will be presented this summer at the national DAR Continental Congress in Washington DC.
The center qualified for the national contest by first winning the Washington State contest, and then winning the six-state Northwest Division.
