Fishing date at Gilchrist

A 10th annual “Kids Fish-in” has been scheduled for Gilchrist Pond along Union Flat Creek South of Colfax for June 12. Fishing sessions will be open to youngsters between five years and 14. Fishing is done in timed sessions from 9 to 1:30 p.m. Each session lasts 30 minutes.

Registration fee will be $5 and include a Zebco rod and reel which will be provided at the scene. Registration deadline is May 28. Normally about 400 youngsters participate in the event. Volunteers are needed to help assemble the rods. Anyone interested should contact Whitman County’s WSU-Extension office in Colfax.
