Bi-County tracksters begin state quest

Bi-County tracksters Tuesday assembled at Colfax to begin the elimination process on the way to the state meet. The first five finishers in races up to the 400 and the first seven in distance and field events qualified to move on to the next round.

A District Seven meet with Panorama qualifiers will be Tuesday at Whitworth. Top three out of the Whitworth meet will advance to the state finals at Cheney.

Colfax sophomore Morgan Willson booked wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200. Coach Jason Cooper noted Willson has been working up more speed to add the 800 to her entry.

Kayla Johnson cooked a win in the 100 hurdles with Taylor Lange second. Johnson, Lange and Hannah Harazin could all be on track for three slots at Cheney.

Colfax 4 X 100 relay team of Amelie Bruya, EB Hatley, Johnson and Harazin remained undefeated in the B division with a 51.88 clocking. The same quartet took the 4 X 200 at 1:51.04.

Junior Kim Heiner topped the pole vault at 7-6, her best mark for the season.

On the boys side, Damon Buck booked a big win in the 400 at 52.82 with Justin Berarducci second. Buck, David Moore, Alvin Li and Stetson Steiger cooked a 45.56 in the 4 X 100 for a three-tenths win over Northwest Christian.

Odessa and Wilbur Creston finishers in the overall results listed below will be split out to determine qualifiers for the 1B division of the state finals.
