‘Dinosaur Parade’ author will visit Steptoe school
Kelly Milner Halls, author of Dinosaur Parade and many other children’s books, will be at the Steptoe School next Wednesday, May 26, at 9 a.m. Milner Halls plans to share her book with preschoolers through fourth grade. In Dinosaur Parade, all sizes and types of dinosaurs gather for a parade. Colorful illustrations capture a happy procession of children marching with them. The author’s visit was made possible by the Foundation for Early Learning grant that was sponsored by Whitman County Library.

PCT logo deadline
Deadline for the Pullman Civic Theatre’s logo design contest will be May 31. The winning designer will receive season tickers and a T shirt with the design printed on it. The logo will be used for subsequent performance seasons.
Worley benefit sales
Worley Fire Association’s annual yard sale along Highway 95 in Worley will be June 18, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 19, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hundreds of items from clothing to electronics, furniture, appliances, building materials, and household items will be available. Proceeds benefit the Worley Volunteer Fire Departmen.
Worley Community Church Yard Sale will be the same dates. It will feature a wide range of items supporting the church’s community outreach programs.
Singspiration at Palouse
Garfield/Palouse student Jeff Kent is preparing for a musical ministry/mission trip to Taiwan. He will have a “Singspiration” and silent auction fund raising event, Sunday, May 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Palouse Federated Church.
Kent, a sophomore at Garfield-Palouse High School will go with Carpenter’s Tools International music ministries. He will be the lead vocalist in a team that will train in Minnesota for two weeks before heading overseas. Once in Taiwan, they will travel the island nation spreading the word of God through their music and words. The team will sing contemporary worship songs in Mandarin Chinese as well as English.

Those who cannot attend the event and still wish to support the Palouse Federated Church youth group/camp fund, you can send your contributions to the church with a memo noting where the funds are to be placed.
Clubs & Youth Groups
Colfax PEOChapter AF of PEO met for a taco salad bar May 10 at the home of Robyn Johnson with Liane Smith co-hostess. Dr. Shirley Richardson, who retired after practicing at Pomeroy for 27 years, talked about the early years of her career in Canada and Seattle. She demonstrated how to administer CPR and talked about functions of the heart.
Next meeting will be May 24 at the home of Linda Marler with Lynn Nelson co-hostess. Ann Marra will present the program.

Children in grades 1-4 are encouraged to bring a friend to the Third Thursday program “Let’s Game,” today, May 20 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Bus #1 will drop children off at the library with a note from a parent.

“1,000 Dollars and an Idea: Entrepreneur to Billionaire” by Sam Wyly is a fast-paced, fascinating, and candid memoir, Wyly reveals the thought processes, relationships, and financial planning behind the building of his diverse businesses over the last four decades.
“The Complete Clutter Solution: Organize Your Home for Good” by C.J. Petersen looks at individual rooms to cleverly organize each into well-defined zones. Each zone features a clock icon showing roughly how long each one will take to de-clutter, and “Keeping Up” sections at the end of each chapter help you make sure that everything stays in its place.
“Killing Willis: From Diff’rent Strokes to the Mean Streets to the Life I Always Wanted” by Todd Bridges looks at the life of child actor who was on shows like Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, and Roots. Bridges burst on to the national forefront on the hit sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. When the show ended, Bridges was overwhelmed by the off-camera traumas he had faced. Turning to drugs as an escape, he soon lost control.
All branches will close May 29-31 for Memorial Day weekend.
