Colfax senior Brandon Hoadley pitched a perfect game, and the Colfax offense hammered out two crunching wins Tuesday at Avista Stadium in Spokane to take the NE district title. The wins put the undefeated Bulldogs back into the field of 16 finalists for the regional state round Saturday at Shadle Park.
The Bulldogs will go up against Soap Lake in the first round of the regionals which will qualify one team for the state show the next week in Yakima.
In the first game Tuesday at Avista in Spokane, Hoadley retired 15 St. George’s batters in a row. He struck out six in hurling the 14-0 no-hitter against the Dragons.
The Bulldog senior is now 9-0 going into the regional rounds Saturday.
Colfax offense hammered out 13 hits against the Dragons with JJ Robinson, Joe Johnson and Tanner Gay bagging doubles and Tyler Morse rapping a triple.
Morse was the catcher for Hoadley.
St. George’s booked two errors in the frame.
The win in the afternoon game put the Bulldogs up against Lind/Ritzville, a winner over Mary Walker of Springdale, for the district title in a night game.
Colfax hammered out a 16-1 win with 15 hits.
Coach Mike Parrish called on junior Alex Teade to pitch the second game. He walked just two Broncos and allowed three hits.
Colfax offense went back into high gear when Robinson tripled to clear the bases for a six-run charge in the second inning. Tyler McNannay, Kellen Morgan, Will Hatley and Hoadley all had hits in the inning. Hatley and Hoadley picked up RBIs before Robinson hit his blast.
The Bulldogs came back to add eight more runs in the third with Morgan, Johnson, Gay and Dustin Huber picking up the hits.
The Broncos scored their runs in the third inning.
The Bulldogs now aim at adding two more wins onto their string Saturday to get to the final four round in Yakima.
