Members of the Garfield-Palouse Envirothon which placed second at the Cispus Learning Center in Randle included from the left, Blake Slocum, Garret Pfaff, Tiona Shea, JB Lange and Chad Redman with advisor Buddy Carter.
Garfield-Palouse scored 545 points behind the 567 scored by Stanwood.
The center was selected by the Envirothon committee of the Washington Soil Conservation District for the State Envirothon contest because of its diverse vegetation, nearby river and unique soil characteristics.
Thirteen teams from across the state competed.
Envirothon includes sections on forestry, wildlife, aquatics, soils, current issues and a team presentation.
This year’s theme was the protection of groundwater through urban, agriculture and environmental planning.
