Circus coming to Colfax June 15
Tired from the road, circus animals will arrive in Colfax Tuesday, June 15. Elephants, tigers, lions and one bear will be featured in the Jordan World Circus which will perform twice at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds.
A special act for the circus this year is the seven-man pyramid on the high wire.
“You don’t see that everywhere. There’s not a lot of people that do that trick,” said Delisa Jordan, promotions director for Jordan World Circus.
Seven family members tip toe out on an inch thick wire and then slowly stack one on top of the other. The top-most member does a headstand.
Also this year, the circus will again have the motorcycle riders in the steel globe, with five riders riding in the globe at one time.
The circus was performing in Blackfoot, Idaho, June 8, and will work their way north during the week before their Colfax stop.
Jordan said the traveling troupe fared well in the spring weather of the Western United States.
“We only got snowed out once this year, in Laramie, Wyoming, last month,” she said.
The three-ring-circus visited Colfax the past two years, drawing a crowd of more than 3,000 people for its performances the first year.
Show times will be 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds. A half hour before each show, the elephants will be led out to give rides to children.
Tickets can be purchased an hour before show time at the circus ticket booth. Admission is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and military members, and $8 for children 18 and under.
Children’s passes, which allow children 12 and under in for free if accompanied by an adult, have been left at stores around town.
