Bulldog baseball players wrapped up the end of the season with the annual awards banquet Monday night. Coach Mike Parrish’s squad combined to hit better than .500 and brought home a second place trophy from the state championships in Yakima.

“But second place doesn’t cut it in Colfax,” said Coach Parrish. “I guess we can thank Baerlocher and Doering for setting that bar.”

Colfax finished 25-1, with the loss coming in the championship game against Seattle Lutheran. It was the third time in school history that Colfax made it to the state Final Four.

Ten players off the Colfax team were named to the Bi-County All-League team.

Senior slugger Joe Johnson, who will play at Spokane Falls Community College next year, was named league MVP. Johnson finished the year with a .600 average and 46 RBI.

Parrish said he could not recall another Bulldog driving in more than 30 runs in his long career.

Also setting a high mark was pitching ace Brandon Hoadley who ended the year with 11 wins, including three no-hitters and a perfect game.

Both have been nominated for the all-state team.

Also making the all-league first team were seniors Tanner Gay, Will Hatley, Tyler Morse, JJ Robinson and Kellen Morgan. All but Robinson and Morgan are seniors.

Hatley is slated to play for Don Lindgren at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake next spring.

Other seniors ending their careers were Dustin Huber, who will join Johnson at SFCC team, and Sam Mellor.

Huber, Tyler McNannay and Alex Teade were named to the all-league second team.
