County budget marks gains against deficit projections

The deficit in Whitman County’s operating budget will likely increase by more than $10,000 next week, when commissioners consider the year’s second budget amendment. Commissioners said they will likely pass the amendment next Monday after a public hearing which netted no comment.

The proposed amendment and the monthly financial report were presented Monday by Esther Wilson and Debbie Kilpatrick, remaining employees in the depleted finance department.
