Nealeys, Splater, Gunn play in PanAm hoops

Two Eastern Washington Masters basketball teams competed in the Pan American Games in Eugene, Ore., July 2 through July 10. The 60-plus team brought back the silver medal after being defeated by Brazil in the championship game.

The team reached the championship game by defeating Costa Rica, Chile and a U.S. team from Portland. Tedd and Terry Nealey, 1965 graduates of LaCrosse, and Durand Splater, a1968 grad from La Crosse played on the team. Larry Gunn of Colfax played on the 65-plus team which brought back the bronze medal.

Next year’s games will be in Brazil.
