Serving Whitman County since 1877
Dixie Brannon and Donna Thompson serve meal patrons.
Fifteen local resident came to the Colfax Methodist Church Thursday night for the new free dinner program. Attendees savored a number of home-cooked dishes. Once a month, church members are now fixing up a multi-faceted meal for the community at large.
Ready for the hungry was a big vat of chili, potato soup a tray of burritos and fresh salad. Toppings for the salad included slices of tomato, olive and cheese. Dessert was frosted brownies.
“This here is scrumptious,” said a Gladys Edgerton who lives near the church. “Potato soup is one of my favorites,” she said. Guests congregated to fill three tables and chatted while eating.
“I love it,” said Edgerton.
Organizer Donna Thompson said this month’s attendance marked a success.
“We had a lot better turnout this time,” Thompson said.
Thompson organized the dinner after being inspired by a similar outreach effort in Walla Walla which benefited a relative of hers.
