Judge shoots down recall effort

Judge William Acey of Asotin dismissed Monday Roger Whitten’s petition to recall Whitman County commissioners Pat O’Neill and Greg Partch.

O’Neill and Partch said they can now move ahead with county business without the dark cloud of a recall hanging over them.

“I’ve lost a lot of sleep,” a jubilant O’Neill said with a grin after Acey rejected Whitten’s recall petition in Superior Court.

“I think this is a real victory for Whitman County,” said Partch, who added he felt vindicated.
