Howard P. Patton
Funeral services for Howard P. Patton, 95, will be Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Palouse Federated Church. Rev. Corey Laughary and Pastor Kathy L. Kramer will officiate the service, and burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Visitation will be at Kramer Funeral Home at Palouse.
Mr. Patton died on Tuesday evening, Aug. 3, 2010, at the Pullman Regional Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1914, in Latah County, Idaho to Crawford and Katey Lee Wysong Patton. He attended the Daily Country School through the eighth grade and completed his schooling at Palouse schools. He graduated from Palouse High School in 1933.
He married Fleeta Lazelle on Dec. 15, 1941, at Moscow, and the couple made their home at Palouse where they farmed in the Palouse area. In 1948 the couple moved from the farm into their home in Palouse. The couple retired from farming in 1977. One of his greatest joys was getting water skiers up for their very first time at their summer cabin on Chatcolet Lake. The couple also enjoyed wintering in Palm Springs. Mrs. Patton died in June of 2010.
Mr. Patton served on the Palouse School Board and the Palouse City Council. He was a member of the Palouse Grain Growers and the Hi-Yu Gun Club and was awarded a trophy for a perfect score of 100 straight hits.
Survivors include two daughters, Toni (Damon) Brantner, Pullman; Teri (Howard) Reeves, Spokane; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Donald Yates
A memorial service for Donald Yates, 67, of Colfax, is planned for 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Colfax.
He died on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
Donald was born Nov. 1, 1942 in California.
He moved with his family to Boise where he graduated from Boise High School.
Donald served in the U.S. Navy serving four years, training as a machinist.
Following his honorable discharge he traveled around the U.S. for a year until settling in the Seattle area where he worked for Boeing for a time.
He married Beverly Criswell in 1966.
They moved to Pullman in the early 1970’s and in 1981 settled in Colfax where they have made their home since that time.
Donald was a machinist for Bill’s Welding in Pullman where he was employed until the time of his death.
He enjoyed his poodles and riding his Harley Davidson.
Donald loved his grandchildren very much.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his two sons, Fred Yates and Chris (Tina) Yates; his mother Betty Jean Yates; two grandchildren and two sisters, Pam and Pat.
Memorials are suggested to the Donald Yates Memorial Fund at the Bank of Whitman in Colfax, attention Julie Hawley.

Wayne Dale
Wayne A. Dale, 51, of Thornton, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at his Thornton home. No public services are being planned
Wayne was born May 15, 1959 in Spokane to Edward and Shirley Sievers Dale. He grew up in Rosalia where he attended school. He played on the Rosalia High School football team and graduated in 1977. Wayne worked as a farm hand around the area while growing up. He later worked with his father at Dale’s Building Center in Rosalia. He began his career with the Washington State Dept. of Transportation in his early 30’s and was employed as a Lead Tech with the DOT at the time of his death. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to camp, fish and hunt, and enjoyed his Harley.
He is survived by his two sons Jesse Dale and Jeremiah (Kristy) Dale, all of Spokane; his father Edward and two brothers Larry and Mike Dale.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother.
