Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship, a program for people with physical, mental and emotional disabilities, will begin its 2010 fall sessions Sept. 14. PATH is a community service program of the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine and has been serving the region for 30 years.
The first of two five-week sessions will run from Sept. 14 through Oct. 14, and the second will be Oct. 19-Nov. 18. Classes will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 to 7.
An orientation meeting for new volunteers will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in the WSU Animal Disease Biotechnology Facility, room 1002. A training session for horse handlers will be Aug. 31, and a training session for side walkers will be Sept. 1. Both training sessions will be at 5:30 at the stable. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must be 14 years or older and attend both the orientation and a training session.
PATH is supported by United Way of Pullman, United Way of Moscow/Latah County, Stepping Stones Foundation, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Moscow Mardi Gras Foundation, the Moscow Circle of Giving and Moscow Opportunity School.
