Donald Horace Wride
A memorial service for Donald H. Wride, 83, will be on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Garfield Christian Church, Garfield. Rev. King Rockhill and Phil Weagraff will officiate the service. A private family inurnment will follow at the Garfield Cemetery.
Mr. Wride died Monday evening, Aug. 16, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
Born Jan. 19, 1927, near Garfield, to Robert and Edna Trimblen Wride. Don attended a country school and later attended Garfield schools and graduated with the Garfield class of 1944. He joined the U. S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
After the war, Don attended Stanford University and later Washington State College, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in interior design. He married Joan Dingman Aug. 1, 1951, at Butte, Mont., and they made their home in Palouse for two years before moving to Garfield where they have resided since. Mr. Wride was a painting contractor for several years and later worked at the Garfield Union Warehouse hardware store as a manager for 30 years until he retired in 1995. After his retirement, Don was a cabinetmaker for several years until he retired in 2000.
Don served the community through the Chamber of Commerce and the Boy Scout Troop 577, and through many unnoticed kind deeds in repairing appliances and remodeling homes for many people through the years. He was a member of the Garfield Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Wride at the Garfield home, two sons, Nicholas (Patricia) Wride, Moses Lake; Richard Wride, Cooper Landing, Alaska; two daughters Jane (Greg) Colar, Manasses, Va., Robin (Brad) Smick, Spokane; two brothers, Alan Wride, Garfield; Jim Wride, Bartlesville, Okla .; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Eldora Cummings
Eldora D. (Jody) Cummings, age 59, a resident of Tekoa since 1976, died Friday, Aug. 20, at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane from cancer. In accordance with her request, a funeral service with not be conducted.
Born Aug. 31, 1950, at Aberdeen, to Ralph and Jessie Conklin VinCamp, she attended schools in Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1968. Her family moved to Hawthorne, Nev., and she lived there until moving to Tekoa in 1976.
She worked as a bartender at Hungry’s Tavern, G’s Café, The Golden Grain Tavern and the Tekoa Jaycee Club. She had also worked as a caregiver for home health and at the Tekoa Care Center. She drove grain trucks for area farmers during harvest.
She and Kenneth Cummings married at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, July 15, 1998. Ken and Jody had been a couple for more than 30 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, attending local yard sales and spending time at area casinos.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, at the Tekoa home; one son, Charles Moyer of Denver, Colo .; one daughter, Lorilee Sheld of Tekoa; brothers, Gene VinCamp of Eugene, Ore .; Ralph VinCamp of Boise, Idaho; Ross VinCamp of Globe, Ariz .; half-brothers and sisters, Charles Sisk, Mickey Sisk, Linda Sisk, and Mary Henzmenn, all of Aberdeen; stepmother Ardyce VinCamp of Boise and four grandchildren.

Amanda Rundell
Graveside services for Amanda Rae (Mays) Rundell, 34, will be Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the family plot in Colfax, with a celebration of her life planned for Sept. 18, 2010, at the home of close family friend, Richard Devin of Kennewick. She died July 15, 2010 in Richland, after a short but acute illness.
Born Dec. 10, 1975, in Colfax, she attended schools in Othello and Moses Lake before moving to the Tri-Cities area. She worked at the Richland Branch of Yakima Federal Credit Union.
She enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening, but she especially loved her children and family life and staying active in her children’s school activities.
Surviving are her husband, Rian Rundell, her children, Chelsey, Levi, Tialer and Caileb, and her mother, Joanna Archer Mays.
