Tekoa/Oakedale and Pomeroy booked a pair of league wins in the first two rounds of SE volleyball play. Pomeroy was slated to host the LW Tigercats Wednesday night, and the `hawks will host 1-1 Rosalia in tonight’s round,
TEKOA/OAKESDALE Tuesday moved to 2-0 in the league run with a three-game win over Garfield/Palouse, 25-12 24-15 and 25-21. Kaela Dewan hit seven aces and 10 kills against the Vikings. Alexa Lindgren had five digs and Eden Anderson put up two blocks.
Casey Adair hit three aces for the Vikings, and Holly Leendertsen and Terrie Taylor each had two kills.
The Nighthawks Thursday put down SJE in three games. The ‘hawks battled for 27-25 edge in the first game and then took the next two 25-21 and 25-19. Dewan had 14 assists for the Eagles and hit seven aces.
Carmen Lust had six assists for the Eagles, and Alli Winters had 14 digs.
POMEROY Tuesday moved to 2-0 in the league race with three-game win over Rosalia, 23-12 25-14 23-25 and 25-7.
Briann Maley put down nine kills, and Lucy Irish had eight assists for the Spartans. Maddy St. John hit two aces for Rosalia.
Kinsey Bott had seven kills for Pomeroy.
In the Thursday round, Pomeroy took a five-game win over Colton at the Wildcats’ court, 25-22 20-25 20-25 25-19 and 15-11.
Mollie Kramer had nine kills for Colton and McKenzie Heaslet put up six blocks.
Bott put down 18 blocks for the Pirates.
OOLTON Tuesday rolled over a young LaCrosse/Washtucna club in three games, 24-2 25-8 and 23-13. Haley Moser had seven kills and nine assists against the Tigercat club.
LW Coach Sandy Martin notes they are in a rebuilding mode after graduating most of the players that won the state title two years ago and battled SJE in the title game last year at Tacoma. The T-Cats have two exchange students out as seniors.
Annie Fleming had four assists in the Colton match and Shayla Sisk and two kills.
ST. JOHN/ENDICOTT bounced back Tuesday to defeat Touchet in four games, 13-25 25-22 25-12 and 25-22. Winters had 15 kills and 26 assists for the Eagles. Lust had 33 assists, and Gretchen Van Lith hit seven aces.
Coach Megan Doering graduated seven seniors off the SJE team which took the championship last year after the battle with the Tigercats.
GARFIELD/PAL-OUSE started the league run last Wednesday with a three game win over LaCrosse/Washtucna, 25-17 25-22 and 25-12.
