Savitz duo marks 60th anniversary

Gene and Jimmie Gullick Savitz celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a family reunion at the home of Bob and Suzanne Whitacre on Hood Canal. They were married in Colfax Sept. 15, 1950. Gene graduated from Tekoa High School in 1946, and Jimmie graduated from Colfax High School in 1948. Following graduation, Gene served two years in the Navy. He served schools in Waterville, Pomeroy and Central Valley before joining the staff at Shoreline in 1966. He retired from teaching in 1982. Jimmie worked in banking until they moved to Shoreline where she became a para-professional for the school district. She retired in 1993.
