Colfax council duo calls for resignations

Colfax Councilman David Nails, who attended the one day of testimony in the Walter appeal, described the civil service session "a farce of a hearing" at Monday night’s city council session and called for the resignations of City Administrator Carl Thompson and Mayor Norma Becker.

Nails said he didn’t feel Thompson was qualified to do the job and didn’t feel the mayor kept him doing the job he was supposed to do.

Nails said since he has been on the council he has received complaints from at least one employee in each city department about alleged harassment and intimidation from Thompson.

He also contended his research indicated Thompson had logged 2,000 hours of ambulance duty while serving as city manager over three years. Nails suggested Thompson’s civil service testimony about lacking time to do evaluations could be related to the hours Thompson spent on ambulance duty.

Nails also questioned whether changes made in the 2009 city personnel manual went before the city council for approval.

Councilman J.W. Roberts said he agreed with Nails 110 percent.

He called for Thompson and the mayor to "step up, take responsibility and resign."
