Lois Lucille Gants

A celebration of life for Lois L. Gants, 91, longtime Colfax resident, will be at the Bruning Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. Viewing will be on Friday from 9 a.m. to service time.

She died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the Hospice House in Spokane.

Born Jan. 12, 1919, to Harold and Martha Carroll Dildine at a logging camp in Springston, Idaho, she attended school in Potlatch, Idaho, and worked in housekeeping after graduation. In 1942 she married William L. Gants in Moscow, Idaho. They made their home in Colfax where they raised their family. She was a homemaker and assisted in numerous local charitable endeavors over the years. She was a 62 year charter member of Colfax Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing and fishing.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sons Jim Gants of Medical Lake and Robert Gants of Myrtle Beach S.C .; daughter Paula (Stephen) Edmonds, Mead: sister Patricia (Keith) Bergendahl of Connecticut, a brother Donald Dildine of Tacoma; four grandsons, one granddaughter and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests she can be remembered with an act of kindness made to another, known or unknown.

Anita Jane Torpey

A graveside memorial service for Anita Jane Torpey, 77, will be at the Farmington Cemetery Friday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. with a dinner following in the community building. She died in her home Sept. 23, 2010.

Born June 3, 1933, to Tracy and Opal Ross of Farmington, she was raised on the family ranch and attended Farmington schools.

She and her husband of 57 years, David (Bud) Torpey, made their home at Seatac. After raising their children, she was employed for the Highline School District. She served once a week as a mediator for an adolescent intervention program. She enjoyed sewing, taking walks with her husband and friends, taking trips to the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, singing in the church choir and watching her grandchildren in music and athletic events.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sons Mike (Lynn) and John (Amy) Torpey, one brother, David (LaRae) Ross, and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials go to Child Haven Eli Creekmore Branch, 1035 SW 124th St., Seattle, 98146, or the music program at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Seatac.

Shirley Woltering

The funeral for Shirley L. Woltering, 84, will be at noon today, Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, in the Alwin Chapel at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe Street in Spokane.

She died Oct. 15, 2010, in Spokane. A lifetime area resident, she lived primarily in Spokane, Pullman and for the last 30 years at Sacheen Lake.

Surviving are three sons, Bill Woltering of Garfield, Kenny Woltering of Clarkston and Randy Woltering of Pullman, her sister, Darlene Domit of Spokane, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
