Store revival group gains title to building

LaCrosse Community Pride, a non profit organization dedicated to bringing a local grocery store to the community of LaCrosse took a big step forward Friday with the official ownership transfer of the building to the non-profit group. With ownership, the group can move forward with the installation of a new roof in November.

In addition, the group can now seek out grants and other funding.

Next cleanup is slated for Saturday, Oct. 30, at 8 a.m. Anyone who wants to assist is welcome. They will continue to remove and discard items from inside the building.

Sales of memorial tiles have started. They can be ordered from any board member. They will be mounted inside the store.

Several activities are slated for Halloween, Sunday, Oct. 31. The free chili feed sponsored by the Business Association will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the TeaPot Cafe.

The Halloween costume contest will also be Sunday at the Teapot Cafe. Judging starts at 5 p.m. Prizes: $10 age group infant to 2 years, $10 age group 3 to 5 years, $10 age group 6 to 8 years, $10 age group 9 to 11 years and $10 age group 12 to adult.

The Costume Contest is sponsored by Jasper Trucking.

The Halloween carnival will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Fire Station on Halloween Night. Spooks are advised to head to the fire station as soon as the fire siren blows because there will be chances to win tickets to play more games. Everyone is invited.

The Methodist Church annual turkey dinner will be Wednesday, Nov. 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $25 for immediate family; $10 adults; $5 ages 6-10, and preschoolers free.

Hunters breakfast and lunch at the church in Hay brought in the first hunter/customer at 6:05 a.m. and a steady stream of hungry neighbors and supporters filled the church basement for breakfast and lunch. More than $500 was raised toward the church building renovation.
