A graveside service for Elmer Paul Schluneger, 80, a life-long Colfax area resident, will be Friday, Oct. 29, at 11:30 a.m. in the Onecho Cemetery followed by a memorial service at noon in the Onecho Bible Church.
The Rev. Ken McNaughton will officiate. Viewing will be Wednesday afternoon and Thursday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax.
Mr. Schluneger died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.
Born Nov. 9, 1929, in Colfax, he was one of seven children of Albert and Evalina Schrag Schluneger.
He grew up on the family farm at Onecho and attended school in the Onecho area. He helped on the family farm and later he worked in the cattle ranching operation. He also drove trucks for many years, including hauling hay, grain and cattle.
For many years Elmer helped harvest for George Gault and the Slonaker families either by driving combine or trucks. Elmer was well known in the Colfax and surrounding areas for his trademark white cowboy hat and willingness to visit. He was a member of the Onecho Bible Church. Elmer enjoyed following Colfax sports, boating and working with wood. He also enjoyed music and wrote his own songs.
Surviving are two sisters, Leona Conrad and Virginia Morgan, and a brother, Ed Schluneger, all of Colfax, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kate Andor
A private graveside service for Kate Chevalier Andor, 95, native of Lancaster, was at the Crescent Grove Cemetery near Beaverton, Ore. Mrs. Andor died Oct. 16, 2010, in Beaverton.
Born Nov. 20, 1914, at Lancaster, she graduated from St. John High School and attended Kinman Business College in Spokane. She was employed in St. John where she met Jake Andor.
Mr. Andor died in 1973.
Surviving are three children, Vern Andor, Susan Fison and Margaret Anderson and three grandchildren.

Michael Carlton
Michael Henry Carlton, 49, Palouse, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Pullman Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born May 28, 1961, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Bill and Lois Horning Carlton, he grew up in Arizona until moving to Auburn with his family during his senior year of high school.
Following graduation from high school, Mike attended the Fire Academy and, following completion, served as a firefighter in Maple Valley. In 1991 Mike moved to Palouse, and began his career with the Pullman Police Department, serving the community until his retirement following 25 years of public service.
He served for two years in Liberia with the United Nations and then returned home to Palouse to operate Palouse Synergy Systems as well as driving school bus for the Palouse School District. He was a craftsman and a person who loved the outdoors. Mike built both of his homes and helped many friends build their homes. He loved gardening, farming and raising cattle. Mike loved family, friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include his mother, Lois Carlton of Auburn; his two sisters Karen (Kurt) Rolland and Karole (Roger) Michel; one niece Bethanie Michel and his five nephews Eric and Alexander Michel; Christopher, Chad and Nathaniel Rolland.

A memorial service for Dylan Mayhan-Treese, 16, Garfield/Palouse High School student, will be Sunday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Palouse, 215 E. Church St., in Palouse. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is caring for the family. A candlelight vigil was Wednesday night at the family home in Palouse.
Dylan died Oct. 11, 2010, in Palouse.
Born Feb. 10, 1994, in Port Angeles to David and Cindi Curry Mayhan, he moved to Palouse with his family and attended school at Palouse. He was a sophomore at Garfield-Palouse High school at the time of his death. He loved classic cars, spending time with his family crabbing and eating pizza in Port Townsend.
Dylan is survived by his parents, a brother, William, Palouse, and his maternal grandmother, Julie Curry.
