Services for George Gault, 93, retired Colfax area farmer, will be Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at Colfax Methodist Church. Mr. Gault died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010.
Born Sept. 10, 1917, in Seattle, to George Sr. and Rosanna Lyon Gault, he moved with his family to Lind and Spokane Valley prior to moving to Colfax when he was a junior in high school. He graduated from Colfax High School with the class of 1934 and obtained a chemistry degree from Whitman College. He went on to do graduate studies at Washington State College and worked as a chemist for Standard Oil in El Centro, Calif., during World War II.
He volunteered to roll fuel and asphalt barrels onto ships to support the war effort on his off-work hours. While in California, he qualified for a private pilot’s license. In 1943 he married Dorotha Moys and they made their home in Berkley, Calif. In 1946 they came to Colfax to farm the family farm where they lived until their retirement. While farming, George also worked at WSU in the chemistry department and later became manager for Almota Elevator Co., when it first became a river terminal. Also during this time he received the Conservation Farmer award for the State of Washington.
He was a member of the Colfax Methodist Church, Shriner’s, Farm Bureau and Washington Association of Wheat Growers.
Survivors include his wife, Dorotha, three daughters, Sydney Jenkins, Leslie Lemaster and Georgie Leinweber, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be given to United Methodist Church, Whitman Community Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The memorial service for Donna Rae Pogue Bryan, 44, Pullman, was Monday, at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Burial followed at the Pullman Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at her Pullman home.
Born April 5, 1966, in Tacoma to Ray and Maxine Pogue, she grew up in Pullman and graduated from Pullman High School with the class of 1985. Donna was active in FFA, raising and showing steers. She attended Walla Walla Community College at Clarkston and received her associate degree. Donna made Pullman her home. She married Donald Bryan in Colfax Jan. 11, 2006. Donna enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, reading romance novels and playing Pogo on her computer. She was a member of the Whelan Grange and the Women of the Moose.
Surviving are her husband, Don at their Pullman home; her two daughters Angie (Eric Gibson) Pogue, Alanna Pogue, all of Pullman; a son James (Paige) Agidius, Spokane; her father Ray Pogue of Pullman and four grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Whitman County Fire District #12, Whelan Grange or a charity of the donor’s choice.

A memorial service for Betty E. Ingalls, 73, was Monday afternoon at the Federated Church in Palouse with the Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. Inurnment followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Mrs. Ingalls died Tuesday Oct. 26, 2010, at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
Born April 5, 1937, at Red Cloud, Neb., to Raymond and Hazel Kivett Watkins, she attended school in the West Valley District in Spokane Valley and graduated there in 1955.
She married Melvin Ingalls July 1, 1960, at Spokane, and they made their home there.
She worked as a receptionist for a construction company and later operated the Day Care Center.
Mr. Ingalls operated Valley Cabinets in Spokane Valley until 1976 when they moved to Palouse.
Both were employed at Washington State University.
Mrs. Ingalls started working in the housing department and later worked in various other departments.
She was an office assistant in administration and retired from the university after 21 years of service.
Mr. Ingalls died in March of 2010, and she moved to Colfax to live with her daughter and her husband last March.
Betty was a member of the Palouse Federated Church.
Survivors include two sons, Keith (Jennifer) Ingalls, Genesee; Kevin (Teresa) Ingalls, Spokane; one daughter, Kimberly (Tony) Kopf, Colfax; one brother, Robert (Ruth) Watkins, Palouse, and five grandchildren,.
The family suggests memorials to the Palouse Federated Church, Box 535, Palouse, WA 99161 or to the American Cancer Society.
Paul Sarver
Paul Sarver, 84, former Standard Oil bulk distributor in Colfax, died last Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in Spokane after a long struggle with cancer. He was cremated and a service will not be conducted.
Born March 3, 1926, at Mockonema to Ed and Hazel Sarver of Mockonema, he was raised here and graduated with the Colfax High School class of 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Situla which was based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After receiving his discharge, he returned to Colfax and married Mildred (Marlene) Van Tine of Colfax.
He retired from Standard Oil in 1976, and they spent the next five years traveling in the United States before moving to Spokane to make their retirement home.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Lara (Mike) Miller, Nashville; Sheryl (Mike) Jenkins, St. John; and Richard (Carolyn) Sarver, Olympia; one brother, Lawrence (JoAnne) Sarver, Colfax; one sister, Ruth Hergert, Spokane, and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be donations to Hospice of Spokane, Box 2215, Spokane, 99210.
Bernita L. Parker
Bernita L. Parker, 83, a former Tekoa resident, died Oct. 29, 2010, at a Spokane care center. She was born June 12, 1927, near Tekoa to Milton E. and Alma Ryser Krell, the first of eight children in the family. A memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Tekoa Community Church. Kramer Funeral Home of Tekoa is handling the arrangements.

Mildred (Millie) Amanda Blumenshein, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Seattle. A family memorial will be conducted at a later date.
She was born March 18, 1917, to Alfred and Josephine Bile’ Westendahl in Orofino.
She graduated from high school in Lewiston, and attended Lewis-Clark Normal School and the University of Idaho. She married Daniel C. Blumenshein April 9, 1949, in Lewiston. He died July 1, 1976.
Millie taught in various small communities in northern Idaho. She moved to Washington to teach in St. John and retired from teaching at Endicott in 1967. She and Dan raised their family on a farm near St. John.
She is survived by her daughters, Claire Anne Baird of Elko, Nev., and Mary Jo Blumenshein of Seattle; son, John C. Blumenshein of St. John; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
