Corps seeks new operator for park at Central Ferry

The future of Central Ferry Park is up in the air because the private firm that has managed the park for the past seven years announced it was dropping Central Ferry from its roster.

Northwest Land Management has overseen operations at the 170-acre park under a lease from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers since it was dropped from the state's park system along with Lyon's Ferry and Chief Timothy in 2002.

"It's a tough one," said Jerry Pinkerton, who manages Chief Timothy and Central Ferry for Northwest Land Management. "It's a spot on the road to nowhere. It's just tough to get to."
