Five Colfax elementary school staff members will accept the school’s award of distinction today in Spokane. The school was awarded for being in the top five percent in the state for student grade improvement over a five year span.
“It shows the amount of improvement the students are making in meeting state standards,” said Superintendent Michael Morgan. “Of course, we think it’s also our teachers learning new strategies and knowledge to help kids be more successful.”
Principal Tom Arlt and four staff members are scheduled to receive the award.
The Center for Education Effectiveness (CEE) and Phi Delta Kappa International of Washington present the awards each year. Other elementary schools in the region also named for the honor include Liberty Lake and Ritzville.
