Sen. Mark Schoesler is inviting residents of the 9th Legislative District to take part in a telephone town hall meeting Dec. 7, according to a press release from his office distributed Nov. 29.
Residents may call in and participate in a community dialogue from home by dialing 1-877-229-8493 and entering PIN 17455. The call begins at approximately 7 p.m. and lasts for one hour.
“Legislative committees will be meeting at the Capitol that week, as part of the run-up to the next regular session, so this ‘telephone town hall’ will allow me to give people in our district a very timely report on what’s happening,” said Schoesler, R-Ritzville. “Also by then we should know whether a special legislative session is in the cards, and a lot more about the options being considered to address the state’s budget crisis. I expect it will be a very informative time for those who are able to call in.”
During the tele-town hall, Schoesler will take questions from the 9th District residents and offer information and perspectives about issues facing the Legislature. Participants may listen in on portions or all of the conversation, whether or not they ask questions; they may also take part in instant pools.
“Between legislative sessions, I spend a lot of time traveling around our district, visiting with constituents, but if I want to reach hundreds, if not thousands, of people at one time, in a way that is convenient for all of us, these telephone town halls can’t be beat,” Schoesler said. “And this will be a good time to hear from folks, since we’ll be barely a month away from the 2011 session.”
Schoesler is in his second four-year term as 9th district senator, following 12 years of service in the House of Representatives. He was just re-elected floor leader.
