Snow load removal said no-no for roof on CETC

The snow load on top of Whitman County’s CETC building in Colfax could be its last. Bob Reynolds, county facilities manager, told county commissioners Monday crews will not be shoveling any snow off the roof of the building this year.

“It’s just too dangerous,” he said. “We can’t risk putting somebody up there with the shape that roof is in.”

The CETC roof crumpled beneath a heavy load of a massive snowstorm in January 2009. That damage has made the building unsuitable for occupancy when a load is placed on the roof structure.
