Word on the street - Dec. 2, 2010

A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly trying to detonate a bomb at a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Portland. Reports say the FBI provided him training and materials. Do you think that’s an appropriate tactic for fighting terrorism?

Anthony Daily, Colfax. “No. I think that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. We’re trying to prevent attacks, and the FBI is setting them up? It’s ridiculous.”

Bruce Hochsprung, Colfax. “I don’t think they set him up at all. I think if a guy is prone to do that sort of thing, we should do everything possible to lock him up.”

Jaime Reynoso, Mexico City. “I don’t think that’s wise at all. It seems like they’re just trying to prove there are terrorists out there. It distracts from real problems like the spread of poverty.”

Rich Rodeen, Colfax. “If they have good reason to believe he’s a terrorist, I guess. But I don’t think they should be creating criminals.”
