Esther Koch marks 99th
Colfax native Esther Lee Koch marked her 99th birthday last Wednesday. Esther has lived in a family adult home in the Spokane Valley for the last 10 years. Born Nov. 24, 1911, in Colfax, to William and Pearl Lee, she was raised in Penawawa, where her family had an orchard. A 1932 graduate of Colfax High School, Esther married Clark D. Koch in 1933 and they were married for 73 years until Clark’s death in 2005. Esther’s sons, Gary Koch of Garden Valley, Idaho; Daryl Koch, Liberty Lake, and grandchildren and a niece from the Tri-Cities joined her in celebrating her 99th. Her 100th birthday next year will be on Thanksgiving Day.
