Grade school Yule concert set for two performances

Students in grades pre-school through fifth grade will present their annual winter concert Dec. 15. There will be a matinee performance at 1:20 and an evening performance at 7 p.m. Both will be in the “pit” of the LaCrosse High School under the direction of Mary Chastain.

Some numbers will include hand bells. Caleb Berquist will play the xylophone for the fifth grade song, “Noel.”

Soloists will be Matea Enzweiler, Emmett Weller, and Blake Jones. They will be singing “Chime In” with Gunnar Aune, Trey Fleming, Lauren Stubbs, Nicolas Candelario, Alynn Harder, Hally Lindgren and Logan Stanley accompanying them on the hand bells.

Lauren Stubbs, a piano student of Debbie Wolfe, will play a solo.

Autumn Meyers, daughter of Matt Meyers, will sing “On This Christmas Night.” She will be accompanied by Caleb Berquist, Felix Candelario, Leighton Dorman, Jadyn Guske, Braden Miller, Tedra Sisk and Wayne Whinery on the hand bells.

“Christmas Jubila-tion” will be performed by the students in third and fourth grades with Logan Stanley, Gunnar Aune and Hally Lindgren performing solos.

Pre-school students will sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” They are Benjamin Bailey, Julia Guske, Claire Lyle, Landen Miller, Meg Roberts, McKenzie Stanley and Mathew Thompson. April Guske, preschool teacher, will direct the preschool singers.

Last Saturday evening, Dec. 4, the fifth or maybe sixth annual Big Al’s Invitational Pool Tournament was at the Pastime Tavern.

Winners were Allan Thompson and Donna Wigen. Richard Barry and Mike Stine placed second and Milt Aldrich and Eddie Thompson placed third.

Don’t forget Santa will arrive Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at the TeaPot Cafe. There will be prize drawings along with muffins and juice for all the children. There will also be Christmas shopping available at the City Hall courtesy of the DC kids, Susan Martin, NHS and many others.

The first home game in LaCrosse for the Tigercat Basketball team will be Saturday, Dec. 11. The Junior class will offer pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.

There has been a memorial account set up at Bank of Whitman for the benefit of the children of David Zorb. David tragically died last week and was the husband of the former Janine Bailey of LaCrosse.

Donations may be made at any branch of Bank of Whitman.

The Bank of Whitman has a box for food donation through the month of December.
