Bob Bates takes library board seat

Bob Bates of Colton was unanimously named by Whitman County commissioners to the board of directors of the Whitman County Rural Library District. Bates replaces Leslee Miller of Uniontown, who leaves the library board after serving two five-year terms.

Bates has operated an insurance office in Colton for more than 25 years. A graduate of WSU with bachelor and master’s degrees and a veteran of Vietnam, Bates was a teacher and coach at Tekoa for seven years and then moved to Colton where he led the Wildcats to a state title win at the Kingdome in 1977.
